Ooo, I can't wait to see it myself! I don't have a subscription and I live in the US so I get them a month after they come out. Just curious, was I just a forum winner or was this image of the month? Thanks.
It was a forum winner, but the next largest image after the image of the month. A month to wait? thats a wait...after i saw the second issue I subscribed as I was to impatient to try and wait for the shops! Congrats on the win with the pic - it's great!
The perspective in this piece is really nice, I must say. And the lighting is just brilliant, with a light source behind the character. Don't see that very often. I hope you don't mind me featuring this in my journal ^^
Huh? Not sure what you are saying. But if you are referring to the light shining from the other side, that is called atmospheric lighting. It occurs when a bright sky's overall tones appear all around an object because of the clouds and atmosphere in the sky. It causes reflected light, in this case blue, to be seen even on the opposite side of the dragon. If it were night, the opposite side would be nothing but black.
This is a very beautifully painted, detailed piece brimming with dynamics and bursting with light and colour very brilliantly done! I myself am experimenting with light as well, yours certainly paid off ^^
Holy smokes! What a brilliant piece! I really like the light filtering through the membrane of the dragon's wing. And the detail work on the dragon's scales is gorgeous. Not to mention that the skyscape provides a palpable sense of depth and movement. Though I dare say, bare thighs on a saddle? That'll be some serious chafing. I do like her sword, by the way.
